 One of the most interesting aspects of design in the 21st century is the highly fertile influence of ethnic elements from many cultural regions and backrounds worldwide. An outstanding example of this phenomenon is the anatolian design company hiref, named after an ngo for craftsmen which started life in the 15th century and acted as a trendsetter in the ottoman empire.
The result was hiref, with their mission statement "design your culture".
Hiref respects the original sources and provides turkish handicrafts with new lifeblood, offering a new vision to craftsmen and creating new markets.
The collection features over 125 pieces, including copper, silver, ceramic, porcelain and glass items with themes from the ottoman empire. The entire range is hand-made and each artifact is produced in its own region.
